During the month of July, Egyptian courts issued death sentences to 28 defendants in 21 cases. Additionally, 27 defendants' papers were referred to the Grand Mufti in 17 other cases.

It should be noted that these numbers represent the minimum that researchers were able to determine through families and media reports.
