During the month of January, Egyptian courts issued death sentences to 69 defendants in 48 cases. Among them, 6 were issued final verdicts that could not be appealed. Additionally, 36 defendants' papers were referred to the Grand Mufti in 27 other cases.

It should be noted that these numbers represent the minimum that researchers were able to determine through families and media reports.
