During the month of December, Egyptian courts issued death sentences to 42 defendants in 32 cases. Additionally, 49 defendants' papers were referred to the Grand Mufti in 33 other cases.

It should be noted that these numbers represent the minimum that researchers were able to determine through families and media reports.
