The Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR) said its executive director Hossam Bahgat received a summons to appear before the Supreme State Security Prosecution (SSSP) on Sunday, 19 January. 

According to the written summons, served to Bahgat in person at EIPR offices this morning, he is wanted for investigation in a new case registered under no. 6/2025 (supreme state security). 

The summons did not include any information on the subject of the new case or the allegations leveled against Bahgat. EIPR lawyers were unable to obtain any further details upon visiting the SSSP office today. 

Bahgat and his defense team intend to appear at the SSSP in New Cairo on the indicated date.
