Pharmacist Isis Mustafa released: attacked by her colleagues for not wearing the hijab and then accused of « belonging to a banned group »

Press Release

9 March 2022

On Monday, March 6, the Second Criminal Circuit, presided by Judge Moataz Khafaji, decided to release pharmacist Isis Mustafa, who was imprisoned in connection with Case 2214/2021.

The events of the case date back to the end of September 2021, when Mustafa, in one of the villages of the Sharkia Governorate, filed a report complaining that some of her colleagues had assaulted her at her workplace in the village’s health unit for not wearing the veil.

Despite police investigations confirming the incident, despite the fact that the prosecution released Mustafa after a reconciliation session, and despite the spread of a video recording the incident on social networks, the complainant was surprised by the issuance of the decision to remand her in custody in connection with the aforementioned case, accusing her of belonging to a banned group and spreading false news. The renewal of her detention continued until the court issued a decision to release heron Monday.
