During the month of January, Egyptian courts issued death sentences to 29 defendants in 19 cases. Among them, 3 were issued final verdicts that could not be appealed. Additionally, 48 defendants' papers were referred to the Mufti in 28 other cases.

It should be noted that these numbers represent the minimum that researchers were able to determine through families and media reports.
