16 days of activism against gender-based violence

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is an annual campaign initiated in 1991. It starts on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25th of November) and runs till the International Human Rights Day (10th of December). The campaign, presents an opportunity for both national and international NGOs, activists, governments and other relevant entities to highlight issues related to discrimination and violence based on gender. The theme of this year, which marks the 24th years of this campaign, is education “From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World: Make Education Safe for All”. We chose Sexual Education as a sub-theme for our national campaign. Our campaign is titled “Sexual Education: a Need, Not a Luxury” and it aims to highlight the importance of sexual education as a means to address many sexual and reproductive related problems and challenges.
